Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Review
Kevin Reylek reports from New York's Central Park where David Blaine is performing his latest feat of endurance. NYMP has posted exclusive video footage and photos from this event. We'll continue to cover the event until Blaine performs his Dive of Death on Wednesday the 24th.
Dive of Death - Day 1
September 22, 2008
Today was the first day of David Blaine's Dive of Death. I was on the scene to see the event first-hand, represent the New York Magic Project, and bring back a look at the event for those who couldn't make it.
7:00 AM
I arrived. The place was pretty quiet (as you can see in the photo gallery). Just a few last-minute adjustments by the crew.
7:30 AM
David arrived. He was constantly surrounded by crew making sure everything was in order for the big moment. We were also able to get some information from David's doctors regarding the risks involved with the stunt. Keep an eye on the video section for that update.
8:15 AM
David got strapped into his harness for a quick test of the rig.

8:30 AM
Liftoff! David was raised into the air right on schedule. Everyone watched for the first hour as he acclimated himself to the situation.
9:30 AM
Upside-down interview. Kelly Ripa arrived on the scene to conduct an upside-down interview with David. She went up for 5 minutes, and did a great job!
9:45 - 11:00 AM
General milling around. Was able to score some on-camera time with David's crew, including Dan White and Doug McKenzie.
11:00 AM
David had his first pee break! I guarantee you've never seen anyone pee that much in your life. David must have had to ultra-hydrate before beginning the stunt. It looks like he'll be coming upright for about 5 minutes every few hours to relieve himself. He's wearing an external catheter throughout the entire stunt. David fasted for 10 days before the event so he won't have to go Number 2.

11:15 AM
Alex Pandrea and I score a few minutes face-to-face with David to see how he's doing, and ask him a few questions about the stunt so far, and Wednesday's special.
11:30 AM
That's all for me for the day! Back to the NYMP HQ to start sifting through photos and videos to share with everyone!
Stay tuned throughout the rest of the week. I'll be on the scene and scoping out what I can, and posting more exclusive pictures and videos.
E-mail us with any questions that you might have for David and his crew. We'll try to get them answered for you!
Signing off until tomorrow,
Kevin Reylek
